NIBF CASTINGS

right.gif (1363 bytes)Design Flexibility
NIBF Castings give freedom of design not economically practicable with fabrications. Our Castings allow each specific customer's requirements to be cast-in, thus ensuring cost-effective performance from the final product.

Strength where it's needed. weight savings where it counts, durability where it matters !

right.gif (1363 bytes)Uniform Quality
NIBF is fully accredited and registered under the ISO 9002 :1994.  That means constant inbuilt quality guaranteed by state of the art spectro meter metal analysis and quality controlled / quality assured manufacturing procedures.

Accurately constituted metal exactly to specification and cast in the right mould -

that's what NIBF is all about !

right.gif (1363 bytes)"AS CAST" Suitability
NIBF Castings can be designed with cast-in features that would normally be a post production operation on welded fabrications. Unless there is a wide variation in metal thicknesses, the NIBF casting does not require the heat treatment normally required to relieve the stresses set by welding steel bits and pieces together. With castings we don't have the worries of stress set up by the jigs or clamps or the sequence in which welds are made.

right.gif (1363 bytes)Machinability - without excess !
The NIBF casting can provide you with the material hardness you specify plus a machining allowance to give you less waste and lower "floor to floor" machining times.

Excessive machining allowances to cope with the distortion experienced in so many welded fabrications are eliminated by the uniformity of NIBF's quality controlled castings.

Countersunk holes, slots, chamfers, round corners, etc. come with the casting, exactly to specification, time after time !

right.gif (1363 bytes)Six or six thousand - They're all the same
With craftsman produced patterns, NIBF's casting techniques guarantee products with minimal variations, time after time. Repeat orders for previously cast times are guaranteed to match the specification of the original item in all respects. However, if it's a one-off or shot-run item required to custom specification, NIBF have perfected the use of polystyrene pattern making techniques. This new development provides the cost-effectiveness not previously available to facilitate economical, short run production.

"CAST-IN" QUALITY

pic5.gif (23516 bytes) At NIBF we analyse each material batch and constantly monitor our final casting quality via regular soectro analysis.

This way we know that each batch meets specification. Variation in material composition to meet a particular performance criteria can be accurately formulated to give a custom casting to meet specific operating conditions.

"CASTINGS Vs FABRICATIONS

Our controlled production of ductile iron castings provides industry with a satisfactory alternative to steel fabrication without the hassles of labour intensive assembly and welding. As the charts below show, the material characteristics of ductile iron in terms of tensile strength and elongation are akin to those of steel.

However, the machinability of ductile iron plus the flexibility that casting allows in design elements, makes ductile iron the material for widespread industrial applications.

MATERIAL SELECTION - The key to casting performance

At NIBF we've been producing quality castings since 1935.

Since then we have always kept abreast with technology to such a degree that we were one of the first foundries to become accredited under the Standards Australia Supplier Assessment Scheme.

Our vast experience and up to date technology enables us to confidently advise our clients on material selection to suit their needs.

We know the best metal to suit your application and can then guarantee to supply the end product to specification.

Casting Products

Castings for General Industry .  .  .

From the early days of NIBF when the company's founder Bernardt Schmidt was recognised as being a reliable supply source of castings for the sugar mills in the area, the demand for castings for general industry has grown to become a major segment of our production. NIBF castings are in everyday use in sugar mills, power stations, coal washing plants, metal refineries and factories through out Australia and the Pacific Basin.

Castings to custom specifications  . . .

As times change so has the requirements of industry. New processes require higher grade metals, formulated to cope with abrasive, corrosive medias and increased operating temperatures. NIBF have kept our manufacturing techniques up to date with overseas forays and installed equipment in the plant to monitor production of quality consistent high grade, iron-alloy castings. NIBF can add "custom made" to the castings we produce.

Castings for the water and waste water industry .

These days NIBF's innovative, deep socket ductile iron "Griptite" and "Nortite" pipeline components are household names to these engaged in the water and waste water industry. "Maxiflo" hydrants, "Multifit" joints, "Adapta" flanges and a whole range of water supply fittings provide local government authorities with reliability of performance and continuity of supply so necessary in this vital segment of our everyday life.
