ECOLOTEC water based resole-CO2 process

ECOLOTEC is a low odour phenol resin binders used for the production of sand cores. It is cured by gassing with CO2 thereby avoiding the problems of smell and emissions associated with systems containing amine and isocyanate. The need for amine scrubbers is avoided freeing up capital and floorspace.

The combination of high thermal stability and low distortion exhibited by the ECOLOTEC process reduces the risk of penetration and veining defects. It contains no sulphur, nitrogen or phosphorous so surface defects associated with other resin systems are thereby reduced. As a result, the need for a coating is frequently avoided.

The ECOLOTEC process is the most environmentally-friendly gas cured organic resin process available and offers significant environmental benefits compared to other cold box process:

• non-flammable water based system;
• very low free phenol and formaldehyde;
• no isocyanates, peroxides or heavy metals;
• no noxious fumes on mixing, coremaking or casting;
• low VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions;
• no effluent generated.
